With TreasuryDirect, reinvesting a Treasury bill, note, or bond is easy. It's called Reinvest Direct.

Reinvest Direct enables you to reinvest your security simply by logging into our Virtual Lobby or calling 800-722-2678, and then following the prompts.

We start the ball rolling. About 45 days before your security matures, we mail you a Reinvest Direct Notice. You can fill out the bottom portion of the notice and mail it to us, but you'll probably find the following to be more convenient:

1. Call 1-800-722-2678 (outside the U.S., make a toll call to 617-994-5500) and choose Option 1 for TreasuryDirect Electronic Services, or visit our Virtual Lobby.

2. When prompted, provide the following information (the CUSIP and validation number will appear on your Reinvest Direct Notice):
   • your TreasuryDirect account number
   • the CUSIP you want to reinvest
   • the validation number
   • the security term you've chosen
   • the number of reinvestments (for bills)

3. Pay attention for a confirmation number at the end of the transaction. Keep it for reference.

4. If you want to reinvest other securities, choose that option before you disconnect.

The deadline for reinvesting a security is 11 calendar days prior to its maturity date. If you don't meet the deadline, we will automatically redeem your security on the maturity date and deposit the proceeds into your financial institution account.

Reinvestments may be canceled or changed up to 10 business days before a security matures. To take either of these actions, submit a request to us in any of three ways:

• Write your TreasuryDirect office
• Fax 304-480-7728
• Phone 800-722-2678 and choose Option #5 for a customer service representative

Your request for a cancellation or revision must provide:

• account name
• confirmation number (when available)
• account number
• par amount requested

NOTE: If you wish to reinvest only a portion of the proceeds of your maturing security, you can't use Reinvest Direct. You need to complete a Reinvestment Request (PD F 5180). You can download or order the form here on the web, or request it from a TreasuryDirect office.
