Patriot Bond Announcement Press Conference

Secretary Paul O'Neill announced Treasury will begin selling Patriot Bonds beginning Tuesday, December 11, 2001. Patriot Bonds will allow Americans to express their support for our nation in the war on global terrorism. Patriot Bonds will be available through financial institutions and via Public Debt's online bond sales area, Savings Bonds Direct.

Also participating in the press conference were U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin, and Senators Conrad Burns, Tim Johnson and Mitch McConnell. Rep. John Sweeney, who also worked on the Patriot Bond, was unable to attend.

All were instrumental in introducing/sponsoring legislation to create the new Patriot Bond.
